I play CSGO Competitively and I'm wondering whether I should cap my fps or play with it uncapped. I've got a 60hz Samsung monitor. Should I cap it at 60 fps or 120 fps or just let it fluctuate from 0 - 300? Thank in advance! Best regards, Jonathan
I get that the max FPS of the monitor is 144 and that should be my cap when games can run at 144FPS on my PC. However, for example BF4 will sometimes shoot up to 144FPS but won't be stable at this rate, so should I cap my FPS at a lower rate than 144 to max the overall game play smoother?? How do
pewpew_die • 8 yr. ago. If computer is ready to render a frame but you have it capped it will wait up to 8.3ms (most of the time it will be less) assuming you are capped at 120 fps (whatever your fps cap is divided by 1000). However, if your fps isn't capped, when your computers fps drops for whatever reason it will drop more than if it was
In CSGO you might be able to run an average to 300 frames but if you try and cap at 100 frames you will probably have drops to 80 frames or below. Wrong. My PC can run CSGO on 300fps average but I cap my fps at 130. It never drops below 125fps. It averages around 128fps.
Given the OP, the subject is weighing the benefits of GSync in a "competitive" fps scenario, specifically the title Valorant. Your typical CS:GO champ is not going to want to cap anything if it nets them even the smallest of advantage. To the rest of us with potato reflexes, sure capping the fps solves the issue.
